Wedding Traditions: Keep 'Em or Break 'Em? | A San Antonio Wedding Planner's Perspective
When it comes to weddings, traditions are some of the first things we think of and we’re here to talk about some of the most common ones. If that’s not exciting enough, we received feedback on our social media where votes were placed to determine which traditions you prefer!
Let’s start with the first thing about weddings - engagement rings! We all know about the traditional diamond ring - diamonds are a girl's best friend, right? Well that’s not always the case. As we progress into more modern times, engagement rings are looking a bit different. We see colorful stones, matching finger tattoos, or a necklace. Frankly, we love it all. So, don’t be afraid to be that bride who doesn’t want a traditional diamond on her finger, dare to be different!
You Voted: Classic Ring - 68% / Color - 32%
The next tradition – it’s a newer one so I don’t know that we can call it a “tradition”, but who cares right! FIRST LOOKS! They are becoming more and more popular. Bride and grooms love first looks because it gives them a special moment with their soon to be wifey/hubby and helps with the nerves and jitters before the walk down the aisle. And let's be honest, it gives you a chance to ugly cry in private so you don’t have to do it in front of all of your guests. We would like to see this become more of a tradition because one - the photos you get out of it are AMAZING and two - for that ugly cry!
You Voted: See Ya At The Altar - 53% / First Look - 47%
Now, did you know a white dress is to symbolize perfection? Well, we hate to break it to you, but no one is perfect. I’m not saying don’t or you can’t wear a white dress. What I’m saying is don’t feel like you can’t because you’re not “perfect.” That’s one point I want to make. My next point is colored dresses! They’re so fun and so on trend. Why not wear a blush dress, a blue dress, a black dress or a badass tuxedo jumpsuit? Don’t feel pressured to follow the norm if your heart screams something else.
You Voted: Traditional - 83% / Mix It Up - 17%
Lastly, let’s talk about dessert. We all know and love a traditional wedding cake, but what about a dessert bar? Imagine a table full of all the sweets and goodies your heart can desire. Cake, cupcakes, and cookies galore! We’re drooling over here. Whatever you decide to have we’re sure your guests will love it! Who can say no to dessert anyway? Not us. :)
You Voted: Cake - 56% / Other Treats - 44%
The list of traditions goes on and on, but we’ll stop there for now. Ultimately, it’s your special day and you should do whatever it is you want to do. However, if you find yourself having any doubts or questions regarding these situations we hope this helps you out!
